Event Schedule
Public Showings
We expect the Haunt will be open during the month of October 2027, probably only on weekends, and Halloween is on a Sunday that year. A weekend may be Friday and Saturday night, or Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night, TBD.
During the daytime the Set will be quiet except for maybe the occasional sound effect (SFX) like a murder of crows cawing. During the weekday nights, the Haunt may light up minimally and have a few more SFX going off, all
automatically, but the Haunt will clearly be closed. During weekend operations, the Haunt will be open 19:00 to 22:00 tentatively, and have different simultaneous modes of operation.
The first mode (the general mode) is that guests can walk around our property and look
at the various props and FX. They can walk into the cemetery from the driveway via the cemetery gate and walk around the cemetery on the walkway, walk around the fountain, walk on and along the porch, walk into the
front door and see the props and FX inside. We may make an exit hallway that guests can travel out of to some exit to the outside TBD, so that travel will be generally be one-way. In this mode, the various
props will light up or move or make sound on a semi-individual basis, happening at some frequency that makes sense for that prop or props or scene.
The second mode is that at regular times, say every hour on the hour,
or possibly more frequently, there will be a "show" that runs for some time, 8 to 15 minutes (TBD), during which time the audio, animation, and lighting of all or most props will change to fit what's happening in the show,
what the plot of the show dictates. This plot will have something to do with the overall backstory of the House, such as a ghostly narrator telling the gruesome story of the family that once lived here. The show may
be the same every time or if we're clever we can make the story change to some degree. The show does not take place inside the House, just outside. Each show if different can use any one or multiple of props and effects available from the Set. The show may start while guests are in
the middle of walking around and seeing props etc. close-up, and in which case they may actually miss part of the show, especially if they're inside the house. Oh well.
Private Showings
The third mode of operation is for special guests that we have invited, a guestlist, similar to when inviting people to one of our parties. These guests will sign up ahead of time on a calendar and get tickets as it were.
They will pick an available one hour time slot that the Haunt is open, 19:00 - 22:00 that night (so, 19:00, 20:00, and 21:00), with a group of no more than 6 to 10 people TBD, and these guests will be told how to get into the hidden bar via the Library. These
guests can enter the bar, sit down, order drinks and snacks, and watch public guests in and around the Haunt via camera, and can interact with the Set and public guests to some degree with tablets we
will provide them.
Assuming our event is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, that would allow 9 groups of private guests per weekend, and there are five full weekends October 2027, allowing for a total of 270 guests for the
whole event (assuming 6 guests per party). Personally, I would really love it if the Crew were to sign up for these, as normally the crew are busy working the party, and yes, a few people will need to work each open night,
but it's probably only 2 other people than myself (including the hidden bar bartender).
Special Event Showings
It's possible that the Haunt will be open certain weekday nights during the month of October, or even possibly a few days after Halloween (an open house?) if there is a special person that wants to come visit or to see behind
the scenes or something. I am open to suggestions.
